Meet Lacey (& pups)

Lacey came to Prayers and Paws through the joint efforts of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Shelter and the Charlotte Humane Society. Charlotte Mecklenburg has a wonderful volunteer foster program but were full. An animal control facility just cannot take care of the needs of a new mom and her litter not to mention the germs that they are exposed to at a critical time of their life. The Humane Society agreed to take the pups and try to find them a place. That is when we were contacted.

We want to thank everyone who had a paw into getting Lacey and her puppies to safety.

A few of Lacey's pups have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Sadly in life not all puppies in a litter survive and in rescue we often lose more than the usual due to the circumstances that the mom's had been in (like Hannah Banana who was all bones and abandoned in a swamp). Proper nutrition and care of the mother gives the puppies a better fighting chance!

Sleeping BabyLacey's puppies are not pure bred Doberkids. Some look like lab mix and some like shepherd mix so we are not completely sure yet. We do know they are part Doberman. If you are interested you may begin the application process at any time and when the puppies are at an age where they can go home they will be spayed or neutered prior to placement.

From the Paw of Lacey....

Woof.. Err.. Hello. I am Lacey.

Please inquire about me or my pups. We were at a shelter and that is no place to be for a new mom and her new fur family. Our friends at Char Meck Animal Control and Charlotte Humane Society worked hard to get us into rescue so we could have a chance at life. No one would take us since it was not known if my babies were pure dobies or not. Of course I could not tell. But Prayers N Paws opened their doors to us. traveler

Sadly, as with any litter, some of my puppies did not make it. But the ones that were healthy enough are doing well and getting big. Take a look at traveler... he likes to leave the pen and sleep curled up on Ms. Virginia's mop head. That is how he got his name.

Check out another of my young'ins curled up fast asleep in his foodbowl. Guess he wanted to be first in line. Please inquire about me or any one of my pups!
